Extended Rocks Rd work frustrates users

Transport industry and cycling advocates united in dismay today at the news that the Rocks Rd traffic restrictions will continue until May.

NZTA operations manager Mark Owen said plans to strengthen the cliff face following December's slips had been "significantly extended" in a $1 million plan.

Rocks Road Update

Rocks Road is completely closed to all access between 589 Rocks Road and Magazine Point.

Rocks Road will continue to remain closed for further inspection indefinitely.

The cordoned area has been further defined. Pedestrian only access is available from Bisley Avenue to 589 Rocks Road and Magazine Point to Richardson Street

Southern link priority for Smith

NZTA will not dictate - Miccio

Nelson will not be bullied by the New Zealand Transport Agency and will cause a "considerable confrontation" if it cannot spend $22 million in regional road funding as it wants to, mayor Aldo Miccio warned today.
